Cotswold Lavender Farm: A Beautiful Family Day Out in the Cotswolds (2026)
Every summer, a quiet hillside near Broadway bursts into colour as the Cotswold lavender fields come into bloom. For just a few weeks, rows of fragrant purple flowers stretch across the Worcestershire countryside, whilst bees and butterflies drift purposefully between the lavender and wildflower meadows.
It’s one of the most beautiful and photogenic summer days out in the Cotswolds — but surprisingly, it’s also brilliant for families. Our children were not initially keen on the idea of visiting a lavender field, however all three ended up loving it. They were totally absorbed spotting ladybirds, butterflies and bees and getting lost in a sea of wildflowers.
Alongside the famous lavender fields, you’ll find nature trails, a woodland play area, wide open spaces to run around and plenty of picnic spots overlooking the rolling hills.
We visited towards the end of the 2025 season and ended up spending far longer here than we expected – it turned into a wonderfully wholesome family afternoon. We’ve already added a return visit to our 2026 summer plans and will be making this an annual family date.
Because the farm only opens for a short blooming season each year, planning ahead really helps — especially if you want to catch the lavender at its peak.
In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to know about visiting Cotswold Lavender Farm, including the best time to visit, ticket prices, family tips, nearby places to eat and where to stay nearby.

Cotswold Lavender is a 45 acre lavender farm near Broadway, famous for its vibrant summer lavender fields and sweeping countryside views. During the peak bloom, neat rows of purple flowers stretch across the hillside, creating one of the most photographed spots in the Cotswolds.
Alongside the lavender fields, you’ll also find colourful wildflower meadows buzzing with bees, butterflies and other pollinators. The whole farm has a wonderfully peaceful feel, and we loved that there’s a real focus on biodiversity and sustainability throughout the site.
Despite its popularity on social media, it still feels very much like a working Cotswold farm rather than a tourist attraction designed purely for photos. Dry stone walls, mature hedgerows and views across the Vale of Evesham help the farm blend beautifully into the surrounding countryside.
Where Are the Cotswold Lavender Fields?

Cotswold Lavender fields are just outside the village of Snowshill, in the North Cotswolds. Address: Hill Barn Farm, Snowshill, Broadway, Worcs, WR12 7JY

Opening Dates, Prices and Best Time to Visit in 2026

Opening Dates and Times
Cotswold Lavender is only open for a short window each summer whilst the lavender is in bloom.
For 2026, the farm is due to open from 17th June until 5th August 2026, although flowering times can vary slightly depending on the weather.
The farm is open daily from 10am until 5pm during the season. You’ll need at least an hour, but we’d recommend staying longer.
July is usually the best month to visit to see the blooms at their peak. This is also the busiest time, especially during weekends and school holidays, so arriving earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon makes for a much more peaceful experience.
We visited on a rare and particularly special evening opening. These usually only happen once a season, keep your eyes on their social media in case dates are added for 2026.
Ticket Prices 2026
At the time of writing, 2026 ticket prices are:
- Adults: £7.75
- Children (aged 5–15): £3.50
- Under 5s: free
The farm offers discounted admission during the first week of opening, which can be a lovely time to visit if you don’t mind slightly less mature blooms in exchange for quieter paths and lower prices.
Tickets are purchased on arrival at the gate, and it’s worth noting that card payment only is accepted — cash is not accepted onsite.
One thing we really appreciated was how reasonably priced the farm felt compared to many popular family attractions in the Cotswolds, especially considering the beautiful setting and amount of space for children to explore.
When is the Best Time to Visit the Lavender Fields?
Whilst annual weather variations can affect the bloom time slightly, the best times to visit are usually:
- Early July – Peak blooming time
- Late July – Lavender harvest begins and you may see the distillery in action
- June – Quieter fields and a more peaceful experience.
The beginning and end of each day are ideal for a visit, or bring a picnic and time your visit for lunchtime.
What Can Families Do at Cotswold Lavender Farm?
There’s a lot more to Cotswold Lavender than simply admiring the famous purple fields. We were pleasantly surprised by how family-friendly the farm felt, with plenty of space for children to explore, play and connect with nature.

Walk Through the Lavender Fields
Wander along neat rows of fragrant lavender, soaking up the sights, scents and beautiful countryside views. The rolling purple fields are every bit as magical in real life as they look in photographs.
Spot Bees, Butterflies and Pollinators
One of our children’s favourite parts of the farm was watching bees, butterflies and ladybirds busily moving from flower to flower. The whole farm feels alive with pollinators.
Explore the Wildflower Meadows
Alongside the lavender fields, you’ll also find around four acres of colourful wildflower meadows filled with poppies, cornflowers and other native species. The flowers change throughout the season, so there’s always something new to spot.
Follow the Nature Trail and Play in the Woodland
The Beechwood Trail winds through shady woodland and offers a lovely break from the open lavender fields on hot summer days. You can pick up a trail guide from the kiosk on your way into the farm.
This area was a huge hit with our children, thanks to the natural play structures, woodland tipi and plenty of space for imaginative play. It’s also one of the few shaded areas on the farm.
Enjoy a Picnic with a View
There are plenty of scenic picnic spots dotted around the farm, many overlooking the lavender fields and surrounding countryside. You’re welcome to bring your own picnic, or pick up drinks, cakes and lavender-themed treats from the onsite café.
Visit the Distillery and Farm Shop
The farm distills its own lavender oils onsite, and during harvest season — usually towards the end of July — you can sometimes watch the distillation process in action.
Before leaving, don’t miss the farm shop, which sells lavender plants, oils, soaps, gifts and locally made products.
Best Photo Spots at the Cotswold Lavender Field

If you’re looking for stunning family photos, Cotswold Lavender provides the perfect backdrop. We’d recommend arriving either at opening or about 90 minutes before closing to capture the best light and enjoy slightly fewer visitors.
When taking photos, remember not to step on the flowers. Get down low with your camera or phone to capture the lavender from the rows — this also keeps the paths out of frame for a cleaner shot.
Planning your outfits can make a big difference too. Light colours often photograph best against the purple fields, while bright superhero t-shirts might clash with the scenery. Consider bringing a tripod for group shots, especially if you want everyone in the frame.

Best Shots to Capture
- Family group photos in the wildflower meadow, both standing and sitting
- Rows of lavender with rolling hills in the background
- Walking along the paths between the lavender
- Close-up shots of bees, butterflies or other pollinators on the lavender
